Secret Santa
Fifi got me thinking about the whole workplace Secret Santa thing, and how most years, I’ve gotten pretty decent presents.
Except back in 1998, when I was given a marijuana calendar. For reals. I’d only been working at the company for 2 months and apparently I seemed like a pot-head.
Someone’s perception skills were WAY off.
Tolerance
Elvis and Bear hardly ever acknowledge each other’s existence, except for the occassional cat fight.
Last night after a particularly feisty fight, the boys actually sat on the same chair, in the same room.

Amazing.
Throw
It’s only taken me 30-and-a-half years (it was my half-birthday on Monday), but I’ve finally discovered the wonder that is the humble tablecloth.
Dan doesn’t like this one as much as our other one – it’s bright red. But i think this goes better with our non-matching store-damaged dining chairs, our store-damaged Ikea sideboard and the makeshift 2-level fruit bowl that I’ve chucked together.

I may need to be physically restrained from buying more.
Outing
Yes, this week has been the very definition of frantic. Which explains why it’s taken me a week to talk about our grown-ups outing Friday last week.
Dan and I played grown ups! We tagged along with a bunch of my work people to see Pig Iron People at the Opera House. I haven’t seen a play since high school, so it was quite exciting to be going.
It was just as exciting to be actually going into the city. You know, sniffing the pollution, bumping into people who don’t watch where the fuck they are walking, etc.
Dan took me to Wagamama for dinner, which is a regular lunch haunt for him and his work girls, but I’ve been dying to try for yonks. It didn’t fail; quick service, good pricing and YUMMO food.

And the play was good, too! Jacqui Weaver was my fave, but the swearing provided by the entire cast was brilliant. Dan and I now hollar at each now “SHITS ME TO TEARS!” on a daily basis.
Hanging out at the Opera House was the best part, though. Really, we have the most awesome harbour evar.

These pics were taken with my new “handbag cam”; a Canon Ixus 80 IS. Now I have NO excuses for not taking photos like an 80s Japanese tourist :o)
Float
I watched this float and land at my feet yesterday when I was hanging out the washing. I think it was a warning to stay calm during what I now know is going to be a Really Stressful Week.
