There’s someone I’d like you to meet

So I have this friend. Let’s call her Julie. Cause her name’s Julie. Though usually I call her J.

I’ve known her since high school and I love her to bits. And she’s started blogging.

I’m thrilled to pieces that she’s turned to the dark side ;)

Thing is, she’s a tad shy. But she’s been blogging away for a few months and she’s given me permission to share her with you all.

Cause she’s too awesome to keep for myself.

Julie writes about her two gorgeous boys and life in Sydney. She’s a very talented writer, one of those who can write the way she speaks.

I’m not usually the type to do this sort of thing, but if you’re in the market for some new blog fodder or if you like supporting newbie bloggers, please check out Julie’s blog Mama of 2 Boys.

Love your work, J! (I know how embarrassed you’re feeling right now! xxx)

Alan! Alan! Alan!

I don’t know how this part of the interwebs has eluded me for so long. I haven’t stopped LOLing  since we found these last night.

And Dan and I keep calling each other ALAN!

Nightime…. DAYTIME! Nightime… DAYTIME!

And hello, what’s not to love about DJing badgers?

An alternative to the bridal guest book

There are a million-and-one options when it comes to wedding guest books these days. Photo-booths, video messages and those stunning books made especially for the occasion.

I wanted to keep things simple and not be bound by the number of pages in a book and bought this recipe box from Kikki-K for $40.

I took out the dividers (meat, fish, desserts, etc), popped in a few pens and stuck a sign on top.

And apart from the more traditional guest book messages (and non-traditional messages, because that’s why we have the friends we do), we got stacks of recipes too.

And even a recipe for a lasting, happy marriage too. Noice!

How to make a cupcake cupcake topper

This is based loosely on Kristan‘s “recipe”.

Unwrap a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Pipe icing onto it.

Add to an already iced cupcake using our Perfect Cupcake Recipe!

Looks noice, doesn’t it?

(Psst, it tastes good, too)

On cupcakes and how I went feral

My post over at That’s Noice today was made possible by the help of friends like JarodAndLiz, Scarlet and Kelley. For either sourcing the existence of the fabulousness that is cupcakes-on-cupcakes, or for sourcing mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups for me.

I tried making cupcakes on Friday night, but I was a bit, well, frazzled because of a huuuuuuge moth in the kitchen. And I ruined the cupcakes.

I had tried a couple of those Peanut Butter Cups earlier that night, and I honestly think they sent me feral. And rendered me incapable of baking my cupcakes. I turned into a grumpy old hag for hours. Sooky, grumpy, stampy… that was me. And I’m wondering if the Peanut Butter Cups were to blame?

So all day Saturday I was too scared to try making more cupcakes. I’ve been without my cupcake-making mojo for at least six months and I was wondering if it would be lost forever. I mean, hello, how can I have a reputation for being a cupcake lady if I can’t even bake a basic cupcake??

BUT! Yesterday afternoon I got my courage back and they turned out perfectly. Om nom nom

It’s good to be back.

PS it’s very hard to be restrained while on a diet and making cupcakes and then photoshopping photos of cupcakes. Look at what I was dealing with last night on my PC… so hard to not try to lick the screen…
